The afternoon was a computer simulation of a Refugee Camp and an application of project design and management. The timeliness of enacting a natural disaster and the crisis in Japan was very sobering. It gave us all an appreciation for the challenges that disaster workers face as they try to organize chaos.
Our class has developed quite a sense of closeness in the 2 weeks that we have been together. The Aussies are as crazy as ever and there are always a few wild ones in any group. Our after hours gatherings at the on campus lounge is a place for comic relief and networking. Our colleague Todd did a great impersonation of our instructor Jim Phills. Of course it was all captured on camera and posted on our group website. There is already talk of a reunion in Australia next year.
We also decided to plan a project as the 2011 EPNL group to help keep us connected. Of course there is always this sentiment when you spend concentrated time with others and bond. Only time will tell.
